Best Entertainment for a Child’s Party

Anything that has take-home prizes included will definitely be a hit with kids of all ages. Competition is always fun, but to be sure no one is left out make sure to offer those elusive party bags, or something for every attendee.

Obstacle courses – These are always a big hit. It is not as complicated to build your own backyard obstacle course as many imagine. An obstacle course is simply a series of fun task, challenges, or mini games that the children try and rush through as fast as they can. They are usually set up so that as soon as you finish one task you move directly to the next until you reach the finish line.

You’ll need to come up with some creative obstacles for the kids, you can get as simple or as complicated as you want with these course ideas. You can use objects that you already have around your house for many obstacles. Here are some examples:

• Set up old tyres on their side for them to crawl through, or lay them down to jump in.
• Hang a hula hoop on a tree and have kids throw a football through.
• Hang pool noodles or streamers under a table to crawl through.
• Sit on and pop a balloon to move on.
• Lay out a 2×4 to walk across, older kids can do it backwards.
• Crabwalk or jump in a potato sack from one point to another.

Balloon Stomp – In this outdoor party game tie a balloon around each ankle with string, it should be about a foot of string. The kids run and stomp to pop the others’ balloons. Whoever has the last balloon wins.

Skittle Pitch – This is popular because the winner gets to keep the Skittles! Put a cloth or a cup in front of an open wall. Each child takes a chance trying to bounce a Skittle off the wall and landing it in the cup or on the cloth. The one with the skittle closest to the wall wins all the skittles.

Freeze Dance – Turn up some favourite tunes and have the kids display their moves, but when the music stops everyone has to FREEZE! Anyone still moving when the music is off must sit out until the next round. Last one dancing is the winner!

Hula Hoop Squeeze – This game is hilarious as an entire party tries to squeeze into one hula hoop. Set multiple hula hoops in a big circle; five hoops are perfect. Music starts and everyone walks around the hoops like musical chairs. When the music stops everyone has to hurry up and get inside a hula hoop, more than one kid is allowed but they only have thirty seconds.

Closing Thoughts
These are just some fun ideas for birthday party games, but there are so many! A great entertainer hired will be able to guide the parents and kids to many fun options that may or may not include these. One thing is certain, music and entertainment can make or break a party so it’s important to choose carefully. Consider the age group and what they’d enjoy most.
